The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care at Innovacare Health. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for participating in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care at the appropriate skill level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate diagnostic equipment, remove staples from superficial wounds, change wound dressings, and obtain cultures
- Administer non-intravenous medication, perform simple specimen collection via non-invasive techniques, and collect blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary
- Perform EKGs, X-rays, and assist with scribing and case management procedures
- Perform quality control checks on equipment and prepare and sterilize medical equipment using the autoclave
- Record patient care documentation accurately and in a timely manner, and identify and correct errors in documentation
Requirements:
- Medical Assistant Certificate issued by an accredited institution or one year of experience in a healthcare setting with direct patient contact
- Knowledge of medical terminology, strong venipuncture skills, and data entry abilities
- Strong customer service focus, effective written and oral communication skills, and teamwork orientation
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations, and basic mathematical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School graduate or GED equivalent, Certified in AED and CPR, and bilingual in English/Spanish
- At least 5 years of experience as a certified medical assistant
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push or pull heavy objects using up to 100 pounds of force, and stand or sit for extended periods
- Ability to use fine motor skills to operate equipment and machinery, and properly drive and operate a company vehicle
- Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing, and use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem-solving
