Life Skills Coach Placerville

New Start SLS is seeking a Life Skills Coach to provide in-home and community-based assistance to adults with developmental disabilities. As a Life Skills Coach, you will assist individuals with daily skills and activities, menu planning, grocery shopping, cooking, budgeting, cleaning, using public transportation, making and attending medical and dental appointments, joining clubs or Special Olympics teams, volunteering, and social leisure activities.
Responsibilities- Provide in-home and community-based assistance to consumers according to individual service programs set up by Alta California Regional Center and New Start SLS.
- Document daily charting notes.
- Report issues and concerns regarding consumers to New Start Case Manager.
- Attend in-service training sessions and continued education when offered.
- Assist with special events or projects.
- Must be able to work with and support people who have disabilities and have at least 1 year experience in supportive living services, caregiving, education, mentoring, coaching, or working/volunteering with individuals with disabilities.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- Pre-Requisite: Must provide proof of current CPR + First Aid certification or be willing to become certified prior to starting employment.
- Must be able to pass a DOJ Live Scan Fingerprint Background Check.
- Must show evidence of a negative TB test & clear physical within 90 days of hire.
- Some of the individuals we serve require support staff assist with transportation. If driving clients, support staff must be willing to use their own personal vehicle during the course of employment, and provide proof of valid CA Drivers License, current vehicle insurance, and good DMV driving record.
