The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing refrigeration equipment, including blast cells, tunnels, ice machines, and RSW systems.   • Maintaining current and accurate documentation of refrigeration and maintenance activities.
  • Developing familiarity with and carrying out all tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), OSHA standards, environmental compliance requirements, and emergency response procedures.
  • Collaborating with the safety manager to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in the workplace.
Requirements:
  • 3 years' experience as a refrigeration technician.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must show availability to work in the USA.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to take direction and respond to feedback.
  • Able to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and work for 12+ hours, 7 days a week.
  • General knowledge of mechanical fields and skills (hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, fabricating, etc.).
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • EPA 608 certification recommended.
Work Environment:

The work environment is weather-dependent, ranging from warm and sunny to cold, windy, and wet. Working outdoors in a remote environment is not for everyone, and candidates should understand their limitations.

Hours of Work:

The season runs from May to August. Hours and days of work are entirely dependent upon the Alaska Department of Fish & Game's announced fishing openings, which are determined by pre-/mid-season predictions and actual fish movement.

Living Conditions:

Housing will have an own room but shared bathroom facilities. There are no healthcare options readily accessible. There is no cellphone signal and limited internet available. Communication is very limited.
