Overview:
This specialized 36-bed Orthopedic Medical Surgical unit is dedicated to the comprehensive care of patients undergoing various procedures, including Orthopedic, Spine, Neurological, Plastics, and Trauma surgeries. Serving a diverse adult demographic, from young adults to seniors, this unit is situated on the 6th floor and is characterized by its fast-paced environment, focusing on post-operative recovery, trauma stepdown care, and admissions from the Emergency Department.
Our mission and core values at CHRISTUS guide our patient care approach, fostering a collaborative atmosphere centered on patient needs. The nursing team collaborates closely with Beaumont Bone and Joint, the Physical Therapy department, and an in-house Nurse Practitioner to ensure high-quality post-surgical support. The Physical Therapy Department, conveniently located nearby, conducts rounds on all Orthopedic patients twice daily.
We offer flexible scheduling options and a stimulating work environment that encourages continuous education and leadership development among our staff. The Registered Professional Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering patient care through a systematic process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Additionally, the Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for prescribing, delegating, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating patient education and the activities of ancillary nursing personnel while upholding professional nursing standards.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a State Board accredited School of Nursing or equivalent.
- Preferred: 1 year of acute hospital nursing experience.
- Must possess a current RN license or permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas. Certification in American Heart Association BLS is required within two weeks of employment.
