This role is designated for a Clinical Dietitian within the Nutrition and Food Service department. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering nutritional care in collaboration with healthcare professionals, patients, and their caregivers. The primary focus will be on developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive nutritional strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Nutritional Assessment and Care:
Conduct thorough nutrition evaluations using the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) for assigned patients.
Formulate and execute personalized Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) plans aligned with each patient's health objectives.
Perform Nutrition Focused Physical Exams (NFPE) to assess malnutrition risk and customize dietary prescriptions based on individual health requirements. Prioritize nutrition-related issues to enhance overall health, recovery, and chronic disease management.Identify patients requiring nutritional support and recommend appropriate interventions, including suitable feeding routes and formulas.
Maintain accurate documentation of nutrition care plans, including assessments, initiated MNT, counseling outcomes, and discharge planning.
Nutrition Education and Coordination:
Evaluate educational needs and provide nutrition education for both individuals and groups.
Assess the effectiveness of learning objectives achieved by patients and families, and provide follow-up education as necessary.
Assist in the training and supervision of dietetic interns and students, contributing to their learning experiences and performance evaluations.Administrative Functions:
Ensure the timely completion of nutrition consult management tasks. Collaborate in the development and revision of patient education materials and clinical protocols.
Participate in the orientation and training of new staff members, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
Quality Improvement and Research:
Engage in Performance Improvement initiatives by developing nutritional care indicators and monitoring outcomes. Stay informed about current research in nutrition and apply findings to enhance patient care.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Act as the nutrition authority for medical staff regarding patient nutritional management.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among healthcare teams to ensure seamless transitions of care and appropriate discharge planning.
Professional Development:
Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in relevant organizations, workshops, and training programs.
Engage in departmental meetings and interdisciplinary projects to contribute to the overall mission of the healthcare team.
Work Schedule:
This position operates on a standard weekday schedule, with occasional holiday and weekend responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and possess the necessary credentials as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD).
Experience in clinical dietetics and a strong understanding of nutrition-related practices are essential.
Physical requirements include the ability to perform tasks that involve continuous standing, walking, and lifting objects up to 40 lbs.
