Your Role as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor:
The Substance Use Disorder Counselor plays a crucial role in facilitating patient recovery from opioid use disorder. Counselors provide compassionate care through various formats, including individual and group therapy sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver compassionate and high-quality guidance in both individual and group therapy settings.
- Plan, manage, and document patient recovery processes.
- Co-facilitate group or family therapy sessions as required.
- Ensure timely and clear documentation of patient care, treatment, and incidents.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for each patient.
- Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
- Assess patient needs and determine the necessity for referrals to additional programs or facilities.
- Plan aftercare for assigned patients as needed.
- Provide crisis intervention support to patients when necessary.
- Perform case management duties to ensure personalized quality care.
- Act as a liaison between patients and referral sources as needed.
- A Master's degree in a social or health services field is mandatory.
- The degree must be obtained from an accredited institution.
- Prior experience and knowledge in addiction recovery and/or medication-assisted treatment environments are essential.
- If the candidate does not possess a Master's degree, one of the following certifications is required:
- CAC, CAS, CADAC, CRC, LADC, LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT
