Logistics and Customs Specialist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Logistics and Customs Specialist to join our team at LHH Recruitment Solutions. This role involves ensuring the smooth clearance of goods through customs, minimizing delays, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and best practices.

The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of experience in logistics operations, customs operations, trade compliance, and import/export processes. They should be detail-oriented, proactive, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transaction Review: Analyze and release transactions on system hold, following necessary escalation paths.
  • Customs Compliance: Ensure all import/export transactions comply with local, national, and international customs regulations, including accurate tariff classifications, duties, and taxes.
  • Documentation Management: Prepare, review, and submit all necessary customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
  • Tariff Classification: Classify goods based on Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and manage Restricted Party List (RPL) processes.
  • Internal Coordination: Liaise with internal teams and shipment requestors to facilitate timely release of shipments and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential compliance risks in shipments, customs documentation, or processes.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to streamline logistics operations, reduce turnaround time, and enhance supply chain efficiency.

The successful candidate will work closely with logistics, procurement, and business partner teams to ensure smooth movement of goods across borders and resolve customs-related issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience in customs operations, import/export documentation, or international trade.
  • Technical skills include knowledge of INCOTERMS, customs regulations, and compliance requirements, as well as proficiency in Oracle GTM software and experience with the Harmonized System (HS) codes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customs authorities, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when processing documents and ensuring compliance with complex regulations.

Our benefit offerings provide employees the flexibility to choose the type of coverage that meets their individual needs.
