About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in Wailuku, Hawaii.

Job Summary

This full-time position involves providing general radiology and fluoroscopic imaging services in various areas of the hospital, including the radiology department, emergency department, surgery, morgue, and portable bedside service areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiologic examinations according to departmental protocols, positioning patients, providing immobilization devices as required, and selecting technical factors for optimum imaging.
  • Review orders, correlate patients' clinical history with exam being performed, review previous studies when follow-up and progressive studies are requested, and consult with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses as needed.
  • Follow all National Patient Safety Goals, receive and double-identify patients using appropriate criteria prior to performing the study ordered, ensure accuracy of information and data entry, maintain patient privacy and confidentiality, capture required documentation in the Radiology Information System (RIS), and assist with screening patients for contraindications.
  • Prepare sterile fields and contrast agents, prepare floor stock medications, ensure sterility of surgical packs, trays, and disposables, maintain adequate supplies during procedures, and assist radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Post-process and review images as required, prepare images for radiologist interpretation, transmit images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system, maintain working knowledge of all department equipment and devices, report equipment malfunctions, accidents, and/or unusual incidents as well as unsafe conditions to administrative personnel, assume responsibilities for patients during procedures, provide service-oriented communication, explain procedures, answer questions, and emphasize personalized patient care.
  • Provide instructions on safety measures to patients, family members, and hospital staff as required, ensure proper safety precautions are followed, apply measures for minimizing radiation exposure to patients and self, record fluoroscopy time used during procedures, function as part of resuscitation teams during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations, maintain materials and linen supply daily, maintain order and cleanliness of assigned rooms, rotate and share on-call responsibilities, pursue ongoing continuing education, attend departmental meetings and inservice presentations as needed or required, read and initial minutes of such meetings when excused absence precludes attendance, and perform post-mortem radiology by taking x-rays of cadavers or corpses at the hospital morgue.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess an Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school or two years of experience in a directly related area. You should also hold a Basic Life Support OR CPR/AED certification, a Radiographer License (Hawaii) at hire, and an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Radiography. Experience in trauma, fluoroscopy, and surgery is preferred.

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $63,000 - $73,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.
