Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiovascular Technologist to join our team at Massachusetts General Hospital. As a key member of our patient care team, you will be responsible for conducting invasive cardiovascular procedures, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and promoting a patient-focused care philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts equipment system warm-up and quality assurance procedures to ensure safe and effective equipment operation.
  • Assembles, calibrates, and verifies the operation of hemodynamic and physiologic monitoring equipment.
  • Conducts Universal Protocol, correctly identifying the patient and procedure, and orients the patient to the procedure room.
  • Maintains aseptic conditions, conducting sterile preparation of patients for procedures, and adheres to Safety/Infection Control guidelines and standards.
  • Properly positions, supports, and immobilizes patients to obtain desired cineangiograms and decrease patients' discomfort.
  • Monitors and records electrocardiogram and hemodynamics as indicated by procedure protocol.
  • Collects and analyzes patient specimens/tests for hemodynamic calculations and measurements.
  • Remains current on developments and trends in procedures, equipment, and physiologic cardiac monitoring.

Requirements:

  • Educated and certified in one of the following ways: Graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology or related field, Graduated with an Associates Degree from an accredited School of Cardiovascular Technology, or Graduated with an Associates Degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology certified by the ARRT, and possess a valid license to practice as a radiologic technologist in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Completion of BLS and ACLS certification within 3 months of employment preferred; within 6 months required.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.
