As an Electronic Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the assembly, rework, and repair of electronic equipment, including circuit cards with surface mount and through-hole components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and rework electronic components, including surface mount and through-hole devices
  • Perform manual soldering and desoldering of components
  • Tend machines that solder, press, shape, wind, or place component parts
  • Clean and degloss parts using cleaning devices, solutions, and abrasives
  • Perform intermediate assembly tasks, such as conformal coating, potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color-coding parts and assemblies
  • May perform informal, self-in-process checks on manufactured items prior to submitting to authorized formal inspection and/or test personnel for determining product validation and final acceptance
  • May assemble cabinets, chassis, consoles, or similar devices and with manual/electronic or electro-mechanical equipment
Requirements:
  • Two years' experience in assembly/rework/repair of electronic equipment, including circuit cards with surface mount and through-hole components
  • Practical knowledge of electronic component identification, ability to work from routing instructions, and interpretation of mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Previous training in industry soldering and assembly standards (IPC-610, IPC-620, IPC-7711, and/or J-STD-001) and experience in Electronic Worker Cable & Chassis, and Electronic Worker Circuit Card positions
Education:
  • High School degree or GED equivalent
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Maximum weight to be handled will be aligned with Environmental Safety and Health governing documentation
  • The majority of the work is to be performed in a sitting position
  • May occasionally perform duties in a standing, kneeling or squatting position
  • Good eyesight and ability to distinguish color is necessary
Special Requirements:
  • The position requires the use of solvents, flux, thinners, and other cleaning compounds
  • Use of visual aids may be required such as magnification lenses, binocular microscopes, and specific personal safety equipment
  • Secret security clearance may be required
  • Ability to achieve and maintain appropriate solder certifications is a requirement of the position
