At SSM Health, we believe in the power of healing and the importance of compassionate care. As a Surgical Technician in the Cath Lab, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the Operating Room, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are readily available for surgical procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals to implement comprehensive care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Maintain a high level of proficiency in the operation of surgical instruments and equipment, adhering to aseptic techniques at all times.
- Communicate critical information regarding patient status and procedural requirements to the nursing staff promptly.
- Document all quality control measures and adhere to laboratory policies regarding specimen handling and labeling.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and contribute to a cohesive team environment, serving as a resource for colleagues.
- Manage time efficiently, prioritizing tasks to maintain an organized and safe work environment.
- Remain vigilant and alert during all procedures to ensure patient safety and care quality.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall function of the department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in an Operating Room setting or completion of an accredited surgical technician program is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to utilize vision and hearing to perform essential tasks and communicate effectively.
- Capability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs and assist in moving patients as needed.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching are essential to the role.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Work Schedule:
This position typically operates on a day shift basis, with a commitment of 40 hours per week.
