Job Title:
Technician I, Superconducting Magnet

Job Purpose:
This role is designed to deliver cooling, ramping, and quality assurance testing for both new and refurbished superconducting MRI magnets.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to detailed protocols for cooling, ramping, and testing superconducting magnets.
  • Conduct system inventory, cabling, vacuum connections, cryogen filling, ramp to full magnetic field, and execute quality assurance testing and inspection.
  • Repair cold heads following established work instructions and quality standards.
  • Assist in optimizing the Cold Head Repair Facility for enhanced efficiency.
  • Implement appropriate inventory management practices within the area.
  • Engage positively with all internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative team environment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Coordinate workflow with fellow team members.
  • Collaborate with other ongoing activities in the surrounding production area.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and repair on mechanical systems, including high-pressure compressors, vacuum pumps, and refrigeration liquefaction systems.
  • Accurately complete and submit all necessary documentation for quality assurance testing and maintenance of all systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance and inventory management of testing gear, tools, and installation equipment.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Manager, High Field Operations.
  • Comply with all relevant U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) medical device regulatory requirements, applicable ISO 13485 standards, and all other relevant laws and regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: high-pressure compressors, high-pressure gas lines, or HVAC industry.
  • Proven capability in operating industrial mechanical and testing equipment.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of complex mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Experience with cryogenic liquids, refrigeration, and liquefaction equipment is preferred.

Special Skills or Other Job Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for training and product support.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
  • Strong aptitude for understanding technical equipment and its applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.

Physical Requirements:
This position necessitates the ability to meet the following physical demands:
  • Ability to lift over 70 pounds to shoulder height unassisted.
  • Capability to work in diverse environments, including warehouses and medical facilities.
  • Ability to work on ladders and platforms up to 6 feet high.
  • Ability to operate in high magnetic fields of up to 3 Tesla, which may pose risks to any implanted medical devices made of ferrous materials.
  • Adherence to all safety regulations and protocols.

Travel:
Occasional travel (up to 15%) may be necessary based on business needs.
