About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Railroad Construction Inspector to join our team at TranSystems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction work is carried out in accordance with plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Perform quality control activities to ensure that construction work meets the required standards.
  • Measure distances and verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
  • Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
  • Prepare samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing.
  • Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approve installation.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications for contractors and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures.
  • Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
  • Maintain daily logs of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 3 years of rail construction experience with some technical training or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Word Processing software and Internet software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Rail construction experience.
  • Knowledge of FRA drug testing regulations.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work in a fast-paced environment.
