Position Overview:
Anesthesia Support Technician plays a crucial role in the processing and maintenance of reusable medical equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications for cleaning and disinfection.
This position supports anesthesia providers by maintaining adequate inventory levels as per the requirements set by the medical team.
The individual is expected to embody the mission, vision, and ICARE values of Rush, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.Key Qualifications:
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent (GED), or a suitable combination of education and experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Familiarity with JACHO and IDPH regulations pertinent to Anesthesia.
- Promptly address emergency supply requests from anesthesia personnel.
- Understanding of anesthesia terminology and procedures.
- Assist in preparing the anesthesia area for various procedures requiring anesthesia.
- Ensure cleanliness and disinfection of equipment in anesthesia administration areas, including but not limited to Pyxis and C-cart.
- Knowledge of the Medical Center's Safety Policies & Procedures.
- Participate in the training and orientation of new staff members.
- Assist in the recovery of medical equipment.
- Certification in the use of EVOTEK is required.
- Maintain cleanliness of all airway equipment (e.g., Glidescopes, fiberoptic intubating scopes).
- Uphold the same cleanliness standards in anesthesia sites as in operating room suites, including areas such as PICU, Endoscopy, MRI, Interventional Radiology, IVF, OB, and adjacent labor delivery rooms.
- Manage inventory supplies in the prep recovery area effectively.
- Conduct daily checks of anesthesia sites/inventory for expired stock.
- Oversee stocking of supplies in OB, labor delivery rooms, Epidural bay room, and other relevant areas.
- Assemble central line/A-line kits according to established protocols.
- Prepare setups for cardiac and neuro anesthesia sites.
- Inspect code bags for used or outdated equipment/supplies and maintain inventory as per protocol.
- Immediately replace all used single-patient care items after each procedure.
- Assist in the turnover of cases, including disposal of single-use items, replacement of anesthesia circuits, suction canisters, tubing, yankauer, and ECG leads, as well as cleaning the anesthesia machine and Pyxis cart.
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies and equipment throughout the day.
