Internship Experience:
As a Daktronics intern, you will have the chance to observe and learn from seasoned engineers while applying your academic knowledge. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual who is eager to develop professionally and contribute to the leading company in Large Format Electronic Display Systems.
Primary Duties Include:
- Collaborating with product development teams to tackle design challenges in our sector.
- Employing critical thinking skills to address design and development issues.
- Creating 3D CAD models and assemblies (using Creo) along with necessary documentation.
- Gaining hands-on design experience; developing detailed designs, sourcing materials, and constructing concepts/prototypes.
- Applying effective design methodologies to organize design sets, evaluate pros and cons, and make informed decisions.
- Designing, coordinating, and analyzing results from engineering tests and experiments.
- Translating academic knowledge into practical design solutions.
- Collaborating and communicating effectively as a team member.
- Consistently adhering to the scheduled work hours.
- Performing additional tasks as required to support the Product Development department.
Compensation and Benefits:
The standard pay range for this position is between $21.00/hour and $23.00/hour. The final offer will take into account various factors, including relevant education, experience, location, and applicable local regulations.
We also provide financial relocation assistance for roles that necessitate placement in a specific area.

Qualifications:
Academic Criteria:
Applicants must be enrolled as students and registered for a minimum of 12 credits (undergraduate) or 9 credits (graduate) at the time of application. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, preferably at a junior level. Candidates should be able to take a semester off from their studies to complete the internship, if necessary.
Applicants must work through the Cooperative Education/Internship Program at their accredited university and coordinate with their Faculty Coordinator to arrange for academic credit during this internship, as needed. Students who will commence the internship immediately following their undergraduate degree graduation will also be considered.
Only candidates with strong academic records will be evaluated. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred. Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with the application for consideration.
Additional Requirements:
- Commitment to a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
- Familiarity with general drafting practices is required. Experience with solid modeling software (Creo, SolidWorks, etc.) is preferred.
- Demonstrated dedication to quality performance.
- Motivated and eager to learn industry concepts.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, along with good organizational skills and self-motivation.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to operate automated equipment and/or hand tools.
- Capability to work with various odors.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy (up to 45 lbs.) and/or awkward items.
- Capacity to stand for the duration of the shift.
- Willingness to travel by air and ground. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required. Motor vehicle records will be reviewed.
