POSITION SUMMARY:
The College Guidance Counselor plays a pivotal role in fostering student success through effective leadership and program management. This position is responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive college and career readiness initiatives that cater to the diverse needs of students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Leadership: Oversee the implementation and evaluation of college and career programs, ensuring alignment with educational standards and community needs.
- Student Engagement: Facilitate workshops and one-on-one sessions to assist students in crafting resumes, cover letters, and college entrance essays, while also guiding them through scholarship and financial aid processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, parents, and community organizations to promote career planning and educational opportunities.
- Data Analysis: Utilize data to assess student progress and program effectiveness, making informed decisions to enhance educational outcomes.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with best practices in college counseling and career readiness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred, along with experience in college support initiatives.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of college and career readiness frameworks.
- Ability to design and implement effective instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in data analysis and interpretation to support student learning.
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships with students, staff, and community stakeholders.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role requires a commitment to maintaining a positive and productive learning environment, with responsibilities that may include occasional travel and participation in after-hours events.
