Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant/Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will assist graduate students, professors, and laboratory coordinators with various research projects in the laboratory and in the field. The position will involve field collecting of insect samples, correct preparation and preservation of specimens, sorting insects in the lab, cleaning and maintaining field equipment, data entry, and microscope work.
Responsibilities:
- Assist graduate students, professors, and laboratory coordinators with research projects in the laboratory and in the field.
- Collect and prepare insect samples for analysis.
- Sort and identify insect specimens in the laboratory.
- Enter data into Excel and maintain accurate records.
- Perform microscope work and other laboratory tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- Technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate.
- Ability to use and enter data into Excel.
- Willingness to travel long distances to collect samples and participate in overnight trips.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and lift up to 50lb boxes of traps and/or lures.
Working Conditions:
The position will require working in a laboratory and field settings, with occasional overnight trips. The successful candidate must be able to work in extreme temperatures and lift up to 50lb boxes of traps and/or lures.
