About This RoleWe are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing/maintaining heavy equipment, including aerial equipment, directional drills, excavators, backhoes, trailers, and pickups/trucks.
Key Responsibilities:- Troubleshoot and repair/maintain heavy equipment, including aerial equipment, directional drills, excavators, backhoes, trailers, and pickups/trucks.
- Must have knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, and air brake systems.
- Will be required to travel occasionally to support other projects in the region.
- At least 3 years of heavy mechanical experience, preferably working on heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical components.
- Ability to operate and work out of a mobile mechanic's truck.
- Current D.O.T. medical certificate and ability to obtain a Class A C.D.L.
Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wet and dry conditions, and rural areas. Employee may perform duties around energized and de-energized electric lines and equipment, and moving mechanical parts. Work may be performed in confined spaces, with exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
Work is heavy and requires exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Lifting and carrying of 10 to 50 pounds frequently is required. Reaching and lifting overhead is frequent. Job requires standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching a majority of the time. Performs work on poles at heights of up to 75 feet, normally in awkward positions. May spend long periods of time driving and/or riding in line construction vehicles to reach remote areas of the service territory.
