Swim Instructor

The Victory Church is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard to join our team. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our pool attendees and providing rescue procedures as needed.

• Monitor pool attendees and provide rescue procedures as needed.
• Support students in learning new skills and teaching water safety.
• Enforce procedures, rules, and regulations to students.
• Share pool regulations and water safety policies with swimmers.
• Perform water rescues and administer first aid/CPR as necessary.
• Monitor students to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Enforce procedures, rules, and regulations to all students concerning standards of conduct and pool rules.
• Document and report all accidents and incidents.
• Work closely with the TDC Education team to report any concerns or incidents.
• Communicate any issues or problems to the TDC Education team and/or Program Director.
• Make safe decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being.
• Assist with management of confidential information concerning participants.
• Perform light cleaning duties, including cleaning the pool, windows, and floors.
• Inform the Director of Operations and TDC Education team of any urgent pool maintenance needs.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proven experience working as a swim instructor or lifeguard.
• CPR, First Aid, and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) certifications.
• Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules.
• Strong swimming abilities.
• Previous experience in a child supervision role preferred.
• Speaks English at an idiomatic level.
• Excellent conflict resolution skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to effectively plan, organize, and implement swim lessons.

• Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights.
• Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, swimming, or walking for various lengths of time.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
