SPCA Westchester seeks a dedicated and compassionate Lead Veterinarian to provide exceptional veterinary care to owned, homeless, stray, and TNR pets. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide outstanding veterinary care, including surgeries, physical exams, diagnostics, and treatment plans.
- Diagnose and treat post-surgical medical complications.
- Collaborate with Rescue Center staff to develop and implement care plans for shelter animals.
- Educate pet owners on preventive healthcare and general care practices.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with SPCA Westchester policies and regulations.
- Oversee and supervise medical staff, in conjunction with Clinic Manager and COO.
- Foster a positive work environment and be viewed as a motivator and leader.
- Contribute to initiatives to improve processes and procedures.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
- Current veterinary license in New York State.
- Experience in a shelter environment is preferred, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
