Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Atlantic Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment, including type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosages.
  • Rend aerosol medications and treatments to patients for inhalation, and position patients to assist in breathing and prevent lung obstruction.
  • Determine most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications required, based on physician's orders.
  • Set up and operate devices, such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators to support respiration and maintain patient's oxygen supply.
  • Monitor patient's physiological responses to therapy.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy on patient to remove mucus from their lungs and make it easier for them to breathe and assist patient in performing breathing exercises and consult with physician in event of adverse reactions.
  • Maintain records of patient's health with response to the respiratory therapy.
  • Provide patient education and demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and other health care personnel.
  • Care for premature infants with underdeveloped pulmonary systems, the elderly who have increased susceptibility to pulmonary and cardiac disease, and trauma patients.
Requirements
  • Associate of Science degree from an accredited respiratory therapist program, required.
  • Credentialed as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), required.
  • Active license for Respiratory Care Practitioner in New Jersey, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. ACLS required within 6 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 1+ years of Respiratory Care experience.
  • Critical care experience.
  • Current or past experience with EPIC charting.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
