About the Job

The State of North Carolina is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Caswell Developmental Center. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality nursing care to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Participate in nursing assessments and provide personal care to individuals.
  • Take routine vital signs, collect specimens, change dressings, deliver breathing treatments, and perform catheter and colostomy care.
  • Administer routine medications and assist the Registered Nurse and Physician as needed.
  • Stock supplies and maintain a clean and safe environment.
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
  • Working knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, theory, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices.
  • Working knowledge of proper dosage, effects, and contraindications.
  • Skill in routine medical procedures, including basic wound care, taking vital signs, checking weights, and obtaining specimens.
  • Skill in preparing and administering medications, observation, and evaluation of individuals' conditions.
  • Possess ability to respond to potentially life-threatening situations in a calm and orderly manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional and caring approach.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and guardians orally and in written form.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organization while delivering quality nursing care.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements. A newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus, which will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week.
