Histotechnologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at AdventHealth DeLand. As a Histotechnologist, you will play a critical role in processing specimens for pathologic diagnosis, tissue fixation, processing, preparing, and staining slides for microscopic examination by the pathologist.

• Process specimens for pathologic diagnosis, tissue fixation, processing, preparing, and staining slides for microscopic examination by the pathologist.
• Assist in training new employees and histology students/interns while providing leadership and mentoring to histotechnicians, fellow histotechnologists, and laboratory support staff to maintain optimal operations and outstanding customer service.
• Perform quality control testing, equipment maintenance, identification of problems that may affect test performance or reporting of test results, and troubleshooting practices.
• Ensure the analytic accuracy, precision, and sensitivity in test methods.
• Perform analytical activities related to specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, cover slipping, and handling of irreplaceable tissue, surgical, and body fluid specimens.

• Minimum qualifications:
• Associate's degree in a related field.
• Five years of experience as a Histology technician/technologist in a Histology laboratory setting.
• Must hold a Florida license as a Histotechnologist.
• Preferred qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
• Two years of experience as a Histology technician/technologist in an AdventHealth laboratory setting.
