Custodian Substitute

Job Summary:

Norfolk Public Schools is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Substitute Custodian to join our team. As a Substitute Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our schools, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

• Closing the building each day, securing doors and windows, and turning off lights (except those left on for safety reasons)
• Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of classrooms, hallways, and other school areas
• Performing minor building repairs and reporting major repairs to the building principal
• Keeping the ground free of rubbish and reporting any damage to school property
• Remaining on school premises during non-school hours when authorized and required by the principal

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift 60 pounds or more
• Self-directed and able to organize own time and tasks
• Ability to read and follow directions on cleaning supplies

This is a substitute position, working on an on-call basis. The successful candidate will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
