About the Role

Argonne National Laboratory is seeking an experienced Ergonomist to join their Health and Employee Wellness team. As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, designing, and implementing tailored ergonomic solutions to improve workplace conditions, prevent injuries, and enhance overall employee satisfaction and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Physical Therapy team to expand and improve existing ergonomics initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough observations, analyses, and documentation of worker movements, activities, and workspace to identify ergonomic challenges.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize workplace hazards, including proactive identification of new hazards associated with research projects.
  • Establish strong relationships with workers and supervisors to facilitate cooperation with ergonomic best practices.
  • Provide impactful ergonomic training to employees and train a core group of in-the-field ergonomic advocates.
  • Stay current with industry trends, research, and best practices in ergonomics to continually enhance programs and services.
  • Develop and maintain robust metrics on ergonomic solutions' implementation and impact.
Requirements
  • AEP – Associate Ergonomics Professional; must complete CPE within three years of hire date.
  • Experience with industrial ergonomic assessments.
  • Deep understanding of human anatomy, ergonomics, and human factors.
  • Familiarity with legal regulations and industry best practices related to ergonomics.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and interpret data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to successfully engage with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Strong writing skills to develop ergonomic reports that include findings and recommendations based on industry standards.
  • Resourceful and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, and 4+ years of experience.
  • Ergonomics or Human Factors Engineering, Applied Psychology, Industrial Design, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Occupational Health and Safety, Kinesiology.
Preferred Skills
  • National Board Certification (Board Certified Professional Ergonomist).
