Position Overview:

The Scalehouse Operations Clerk is responsible for managing all scale ticket entries related to manure transactions during the fertilizer season. This role involves guiding truck drivers to the appropriate fields and ensuring the correct quantity of product is dispatched. The position may require weekend hours and is influenced by weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and analyze monthly manure samples.
  • Verify that a signed agreement is in place prior to product shipment.
  • Accurately input scale tickets for manure transactions into the Agris system.
  • Assign scale tickets to the correct fields, ensuring that shipments do not exceed limits.
  • Generate Agris reports to confirm that all scale tickets are properly recorded and associated with the correct contracts.
  • Maintain an orderly filing system within the scalehouse for tickets, contracts, and field data.
  • Communicate with and direct drivers regarding material hauling locations.
  • Provide truck drivers with scale ticket copies, field maps, and necessary directions.
  • Handle customer inquiries, monitor fields ready for hauling, and liaise with operations for any questions.
  • Contact local drivers weekly to confirm hauling availability for the upcoming schedule and notify the Business Operations Manager if truck availability is low.
  • Perform cleaning duties to keep the scalehouse organized and presentable.
  • Coordinate with cleanout teams to provide instructions on their work sites.
  • Obtain and renew a Commercial Manure License on an annual basis.

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to them.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Proficient in reading maps and providing clear directions to drivers.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Competent in computer usage, including email and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in English.
Preferred:
  • Prior experience in a scalehouse environment.
