About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Emulation Engineer to join our Data Center GPU organization at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Our team is responsible for developing and deploying cutting-edge GPU solutions for the rapidly scaling Data Center and High-Performance Compute infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • CPU/GPU Firmware/OS Bring-up and Debugging: Utilize leading-edge emulators (Veloce, Zebu, Palladium) to bring up and debug CPU/GPU firmware and operating systems.
  • Functional and Stress Testing: Develop, modify, and enhance functional and stress tests to identify silicon bugs on the emulator.
  • Emulation Environment Development: Collaborate with the Central Emulation team to develop, debug, and establish a CPU/GPU emulation environment.
  • Debug Leadership and Test Planning: Provide debug leadership, input to test plans, and hands-on execution to ensure high-quality silicon and fast time-to-market.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with extended teams to debug environments, drive cross-team testing, and triage failures with design, verification, firmware, software, and emulation teams.
  • Research and Development: Research and enable new tools and infrastructure to support emulation activities, run and collect data for analysis on AMD's high-end emulators and simulation models, and develop scripts/tools to parse data from emulation runs.
  • Instrumentation and Data Collection: Instrument firmware code to support failure debug, run and collect functional and performance data for HPC workloads, and attend weekly meetings, status communication, and presentations.
Preferred Experience
  • Emulation Platform Experience: Solid experience working on emulation platforms such as Veloce, Zebu, or Palladium, with expertise in compilation, debug, performance, and throughput tuning.
  • Debugging Experience: Debugging experience, particularly in HW/SW co-debug environments, with the ability to trace code across multiple domains and root cause using waveforms and other tracing tools.
  • Design and Verification Knowledge: Understanding of Verilog, VHDL design, System Verilog, and UVM verification environments, as well as knowledge of computer hardware architecture and boot flow.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Tcl, Ruby, and assembly (ARM & x86), with experience in building and installing software packages on Linux platforms.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Academic Credentials
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required.
