Position Summary:
The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for managing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks that enhance the patient admission and scheduling process. This role emphasizes effective communication with patients and visitors, fostering a high level of satisfaction and quality care. The position is primarily focused on outpatient services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist patients and visitors, ensuring they are guided to the appropriate personnel. Manage multiple phone lines and intercom communications effectively, addressing inquiries and concerns as they arise.
- Process and manage patient admissions and discharges, including the creation and maintenance of patient charts. Provide clerical support for departmental initiatives and meetings.
- Ensure all necessary documentation, records, and reports are completed and submitted as required. Maintain an organized inventory of office supplies and equipment, while also verifying patient insurance status and collecting co-payments.
- Assist in scheduling patient appointments and provide necessary information regarding preparations for examinations. Ensure all billing and demographic information is accurately obtained.
- Maintain a clean and organized waiting area, communicating with patients as needed. Monitor alarms and alerts, reporting any issues to the appropriate department.
- Compile information for reports and assist with various administrative tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Associate's or Technical Degree in business, healthcare, or a related field is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
