Job Summary

The High-Bay Freezer Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all mechanical equipment in the high-bay freezer and warehouse area. This includes performing routine maintenance, lubrication, sanitation, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe condition of equipment and the facility in accordance with SOPs and Company policies.
  • Perform a variety of skilled duties, including painting, carpentry, cement masonry, plumbing, drywall, and other recognized crafts, to maintain and repair company-owned and operated building facilities.
  • Properly maintain equipment, including batteries, forklifts, chargers, pumps, motors, doors, dock levelers, hydraulic systems, and product transport systems, following Company or manufacturer specifications.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment throughout the warehouse area, including motors, gearboxes, valves, hydraulic systems, couplers, alignment systems, and weighing systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facilities as required by the Company and manufacturer standards.
  • Maintain all shop inventories, tools, and equipment, and create, perform, and complete work orders in the system as assigned or as needed.
  • Coordinate or schedule additional work as needed.
  • Identify parts needed for work to be done, conduct inventory searches, and locate parts.
  • Document, monitor, maintain, and assist with reporting of shift events, logging predictive maintenance data, and assist with work planning using information systems and productivity software.
  • Maintain necessary communication with team members and other support groups, and do so in a participative management style conducive to operations goals.
  • May assist with training other plant personnel.
  • Ensure that additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operations standards.

Typical Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate degree or technical certification is preferred.

Relevant Experience:

  • Two years of industrial mechanical experience is required.
  • Able to perform sound welds in accordance with applicable welding code, standards, and/or project specifications, including wire feed, stick, Heliarc, Oxy-Acetylene, and sanitary (food-safe) welds for repair and fabrication.
  • Six months of forklift operating experience is required.
  • This position will involve working from heights and the use of fall protection equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) certification for entry into low oxygen freezer environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain authorized fall protection certification.
