Summer Internship Overview
The summer internship program is a comprehensive ten-week rotational experience aimed at immersing participants in the IPC accounting department. This Real Estate Accountant Intern Program is designed to introduce aspiring professionals to the commercial real estate sector through practical, rotational learning opportunities in various areas, including financial reporting, investor reporting, and cash flow analysis. Throughout the program, interns will engage with different teams within the IPC accounting division.

Internship Responsibilities
Interns will rotate through the following functional areas and may undertake responsibilities such as:

Corporate Accounting

  • Monthly reconciliation of the general ledger for properties.
  • Preparation and review of monthly consolidating financial statements for properties and asset management entities.
  • Assistance in variance analysis for properties in collaboration with investor reporting and property accounting.
  • Support in the preparation of monthly financial reports, including footnotes.
Investor Reporting
  • Preparation of quarterly operating statements for portfolios, utilized by asset management for investor distribution decisions.
  • Distribution of property and portfolio operating statements to investors on a quarterly basis.
  • Review of property capital expenditures for appropriate reimbursement from owner reserve accounts and lender-held reserve accounts.
  • Collaboration with asset management and investor relations on property operations issues.
  • Participation in miscellaneous projects as assigned.
Candidate Profile
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week.
  • Strong interest in a career in real estate accounting.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to learn additional software such as Yardi.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication abilities.
  • Must be a junior in college.
