Nursing Intern
The Surgical Medsurg Nurse Intern delivers high-quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living.
Under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), the Nurse Intern assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the Nurse Intern's skills/training and the needs of the Department, consistently aiding the patient care team in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment.
The Nurse Intern is currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing program and can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved.
Responsibilities in this role:
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in the department.
- Communicate pertinent information to the appropriate individuals.
- Deliver compassionate, holistic care while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients.
- Document patient care information in the appropriate computer systems.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) for assigned patients.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current (obtained/maintained within time frames required by hospital policy).
- Must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited RN nursing program.
- Can be considered for Nurse Intern after completion of the first nursing semester or CNA in the first semester of the RN program.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
