Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Data Science Instructor to join our team at the University of California, San Diego. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Data Science, developing and implementing curriculum, and contributing to the growth and development of our Data Science program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Data Science, including data visualization, probability and statistics, distributed processing systems, database systems, software development, and programming languages.
  • Develop and implement curriculum for Data Science courses, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of our Data Science program, including advising students, mentoring faculty, and participating in departmental committees.
  • Stay current with industry trends and developments in Data Science, and incorporate this knowledge into teaching and research.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to develop and implement interdisciplinary courses and programs.
Requirements
  • PhD or Advancement to PhD Candidacy in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least one year of prior experience as a TA, lead instructor, or other comparable teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated scholarship in Data Science, computing education, or a related field.
  • Strong background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in statistics.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
