Culinary Trainee

Overview: The Culinary Trainee will support chefs and kitchen staff in daily meal preparation. This role requires close supervision and guidance. The Culinary Trainee will uphold the prestigious standards of excellence expected at HYATT Hotels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Under supervision, the Culinary Trainee is tasked with:
• Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes for our dining venues, room service, events, and catered functions.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace and equipment.
• Acquiring culinary techniques and skills to pave the way for a successful career in the culinary field.

The individual in this role is accountable for all assigned responsibilities and additional tasks as outlined in the HYATT Hotels guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in a Culinary Arts program at an accredited institution.

Skills Required:

• Strong communication abilities.
• Prior kitchen or food preparation experience is advantageous.
• Aptitude for performing repetitive tasks.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing tasks under pressure and meeting deadlines efficiently.
• Capability to address conflicts and engage positively with guests and team members.
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.

Working Environment:

• Must be prepared to work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 10 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Capability to bend, squat, and twist as needed.
• Frequent use of simple grasping, squeezing, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
