Job Summary

Sutter Health is seeking an experienced Exercise Physiologist II - Cardiology Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our cardiovascular health team, you will be responsible for assessing the safety of patients participating in therapeutic exercise, monitoring equipment use, and designing personalized exercise programs to meet the unique needs of each patient.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct cardiac diagnostic testing, including EKG and Cardiac Stress Testing, to inform exercise prescription.
  • Provide exercise prescription for patients based on test data, patient status, and current medication regimen, updating prescription as needed.
  • Administer patient testing pre- and post-rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance, and endurance assessments.
  • Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses, adjusting programs as necessary under the guidance of a RN or leader.
  • Respond appropriately to all situations, including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals through the electronic medical record.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field.
  • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • 2 years recent relevant experience, preferably in EKG/Stress Testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of exercise testing, exercise equipment, and quality control.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to design, implement, and supervise individualized exercise prescriptions for people with chronic disease and disabling conditions.
Working Conditions

This is a per diem/casual position with a variable schedule, including days, with no weekend requirements.
