Position Overview: The Team Leader for Psychiatric Technicians plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality patient care by overseeing the Program Counselors in the effective management of various treatment programs, particularly focusing on Child and Adolescent as well as Adult Programs during off-peak hours.

  • Conducts regular meetings with the Nurse Manager to discuss supervision, strategic planning, and consultation regarding program, personnel, and unit matters.
  • Facilitates communication with other departments within the healthcare facility and coordinates treatment activities efficiently.
  • Assists in the scheduling of unit staff to guarantee sufficient coverage at all times.
  • Ensures that the program adheres to all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Manages tele-video court processes and ensures effective communication with unit personnel.
  • Addresses performance-related issues among employees and contributes to evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Engages in discussions with the Nursing Leadership Team regarding program-related matters.
  • Supports bed management, patient flow, and transfer processes to optimize service delivery.
  • Provides mentorship to Program Counselors in their interactions with patients.
  • Supervises the responsibilities and duties of the Program Counselors.
  • Emphasizes the use of therapeutic communication techniques while minimizing the need for restrictive interventions with patients.
  • Responds to incidents of seclusion and restraint, aiding in staff training and orientation.
  • Contributes to ongoing training and development sessions for staff.
  • Participates in additional voluntary training opportunities to enhance skills.
  • Involves local travel and adheres to established policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Contributes to achieving organizational goals, quality improvement initiatives, and completes mandatory educational assignments annually.
  • Performs other assigned responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant social services field is required. Significant experience in treatment may be accepted in lieu of a formal degree.

Experience Requirements: Previous experience as a Program Counselor at a senior level or in a comparable setting is necessary.

Licensure Requirements: A valid driver's license and CPR certification are mandatory. The employee must also maintain state-mandated insurance coverage and meet driving record standards.
