Job OverviewThe University of Maine seeks a skilled Mechanical Specialist HVAC CL2 - Energy Efficiency Expert to join our team. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Salary
The starting pay for this position is $23.19 per hour, providing a competitive compensation package for the selected candidate.
About the Role
This Mechanical Specialist will be responsible for performing skilled work in assigned department operations and maintenance. Key duties include inspecting, installing, and troubleshooting electrical/HVAC systems, monitoring and troubleshooting assigned systems, processing and responding to work orders, maintaining and repairing equipment, and maintaining operational records. Additionally, the successful candidate will install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and steam distribution equipment and systems to optimize energy use.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent with sufficient experience to obtain appropriate certification or license. A valid Maine Driver's license, customer service principles, specialized equipment and system maintenance and repair skills, maintenance of related equipment, recordkeeping principles, applicable compliance rules and regulations, inspecting, installing, and repairing systems are essential qualifications. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also required, as well as the ability to perform physical activities that require talking, hearing, seeing, and considerable and repetitive use of arms and legs and moving entire body. Heavy work is involved, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
