Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team at Allan Myers, Inc. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our heavy construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy construction equipment, including diesel engines, power transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assist equipment technicians and service personnel with technical support, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment issues.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with field personnel, dispatch, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless equipment operation and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure quality of repairs and adherence to safety protocols to minimize recall and duplicate work.
  • Comply with all governmental and company safety policies, as well as Human Resources policies.
  • Review shop tool requirements to optimize work efficiency and recommend improvements to the maintenance program.
  • Participate in technical training with dealers and manufacturers to stay up-to-date on the latest equipment technologies and best practices.
  • Work closely with Field Services Dispatcher and parts personnel to ensure timely delivery of parts and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, field managers, and superintendents to ensure effective equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Interpret data from computer databases to inform repair and replacement decisions.
Requirements
  • 1 year of field experience repairing heavy construction equipment required.
  • High school diploma, GED, or trade school preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Must be comfortable with all components of heavy construction machinery, including diesel engines, power transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic systems on modern machinery.
  • Expected to keep all sensitive material confidential.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all types of equipment operations, including pipe work, dirt moving, concrete paving, and asphalt paving.
  • Ability to arrange schedules, recommend machinery for repair, and make parts orders.
  • Ability to give and receive written or oral instructions.
  • Must have ability to work independently and willingness to learn and adapt to change.
  • Cat ET & SIS, Pro SIS (Volvo) knowledge/experience preferred.
  • Basic skills in OXY/Acetylene torch and basic stick welding (7018, 6010) required.
