About the Job

The Recovery Specialist - Harm Reduction is a critical role at MainStream Staffing Inc, dedicated to empowering individuals struggling with substance use disorders to achieve a healthier, more sustainable life. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with a Navigator to provide a pathway towards recovery and positive change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in community outreach and foster positive relationships with local communities.
  • Provide essential supplies, wound-care kits, and hygiene products to reduce the risk of adverse outcomes associated with drug use.
  • Develop personalized recovery plans tailored to clients' goals and aspirations.
  • Link participants to necessary services and resources, including the RealFix program.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of harm reduction principles, local resources, and treatment options.
  • Assist clients in accessing employment, social support, and other essential services.
  • Schedule and follow up with program participants.
  • Model recovery and resiliency principles, cultural competency, and trauma awareness in daily interactions.
  • Embody harm reduction principles, recovery core values, and practices in service delivery.
  • Ensure productivity requirements are met, attend to all clients on caseload, and maintain contact/follow-up as needed.
  • Complete Progress Notes and daily service logs within 24 hours of services rendered.
  • Track and maintain compliance with required paperwork and electronic documents.
  • Attend scheduled trainings to expand knowledge of the Recovery model and other relevant topics.
  • Participate in weekly supervision and team meetings, as well as monthly staff meetings and trainings/workshops provided by Vital Strategies and their partners.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff as needed.
Essential Duties and Functions
  • Communicate crisis needs and clinical information to the supervisor/navigator as required.
  • Initiate and/or participate in helping individuals access higher levels of care.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Navigator or Coordinator, or others on the leadership team.
  • Maintain consistent coordination with the team, colleagues, other providers, etc.
  • Carry and answer after-hours calls via an on-call phone as scheduled, if needed.
  • Request documented success stories from successfully completed participants.
Qualifications
  • Bilingualism is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the behavioral health field is preferred.
  • Experience in case management is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and personal vehicle/transportation are required.
  • Strong knowledge of recovery and harm reduction resiliency principles is essential.
  • Peer Recovery Specialist Training/CPRS Certification is required, with the individual working towards their 500 fieldwork hours.
