Job Summary

The CT Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. This includes operating CT scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of scanner operation, patient preparation, and imaging protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CT scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency
  • Prepare patients for procedures with a full explanation and document on appropriate worksheets
  • Interview patients for a complete medical history and review in-patient, ER, and out-patient EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history
  • Record medical history on requisitions and correlate other test results and laboratory data with exam being performed
  • Evaluate technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed
  • Inform appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition
  • Assist in "code blue" procedures during medical emergencies
  • Perform CT scanning and assist Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures
  • Follow appropriate radiation safety standards and report malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • ARRT certification in Radiology, or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine and advanced registry from the ARRT in CT scanning within one year of hire
  • Current CPR certification
Work Environment

The CT Technologist I will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of infection control policies and procedures and be able to maintain a safe working environment.
