About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at SST Direct. As a Machinist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and precision of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and instructions to understand output requirements.
  • Plan and sequence necessary actions to complete jobs efficiently.
  • Take precise measurements and mark materials for cutting or shaping.
  • Select and operate appropriate machines, positioning and loading materials as needed.
  • Determine and program batch sizes, machine speeds, and other parameters.
  • Monitor machine performance, adjusting feeds, temperatures, and identifying issues.
  • Inspect output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
  • Maintain records of approved and defective units or final products.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Machinist.
  • Experience with manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines, including lathes and grinders.
  • Ability to use precision tools, such as calipers, to take accurate measurements.
  • Knowledge of metal and material properties.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or an apprenticeship is an asset.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a power, mining, or shop environment, with the ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
