About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter Joist & Metal Deck Installation Specialist to join our team at Klover SEPA Inc. As a key member of our commercial carpentry subcontractor team, you will be responsible for installing a variety of structural flooring systems, including Comslab, EcoSpan, Hambro, and traditional metal decking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Fabrication: Accurately measure and read height, width, length, and other proportions with a tape measure. Assist foreman with proper layout for work to be put in place. Fabricate or alter parts using grinders, sawzalls, shears, hammers, punches, or drills.
  • Quality Control: Join materials with PAFs, nails, screws, staples, or adhesives. Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers to ensure everything is level and secure. Check work along the way to ensure it meets specification and quality standards.
  • Equipment Operation: Install/use rigging and hoisting equipment. Install flooring systems according to specifications and building codes. Maneuver units into position for installation, and anchor the units.
  • Welding and Safety: Perform welds using stick processes for joists or deck in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions (optional). Work at heights with several elevated platforms. Keep work area clean and productive. Always exercise the proper use of PPE.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Participation in a secondary or post-secondary trade curriculum. 1+ year experience with floor joist, metal deck, or structural steel installation. Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPE.
  • Skills and Certifications: 1+ year experience with stick welding. Current AWS D1.1 SMAW 3G and AWS D1.1 SMAW 4G certifications, AWS D1.5 SMAW 3G and 4G are preferred (optional). Rigging and Signaling experience is a plus. Basic carpentry knowledge.
