Job SummaryAs an Excursions Director with American Cruise Lines, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional shore excursion experiences to our guests. This role requires a high level of guest interaction, creativity, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Arrange and confirm shore excursions, explorations, and adventures, ensuring seamless execution and guest satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the cruising region, ports of call, and excursions offered, providing expert recommendations to guests.
- Accompany guests on daily excursions as a company representative and brand ambassador, fostering a positive and memorable experience.
- Coordinate logistics with vendors, coach companies, and ground operators to ensure timely and smooth service, with clear communication and confirmation in writing.
- Accommodate guest requests, including personalized arrangements such as kayaking, golf tee times, and private transportation.
- Socialize with guests at every opportunity, including mealtimes and cocktail hour, to build relationships and enhance the overall experience.
- Present a detailed Excursion Briefing to guests at the beginning of every cruise, highlighting key information and exciting opportunities.
- Communicate excursion changes to guests confidently and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to their experience.
- Oversee excursion inventory and invoicing system, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
- Manage launch boat operations with the Mate, ensuring safe and efficient transportation.
- Perform bartending duties as needed, working collaboratively with other management personnel.
- Coordinate weekly office inventory, maintaining a well-organized and efficient workspace.
- Collect and confirm receipt of arriving packages, working closely with the Hotel Manager.
- Purchase morning newspapers in port each day, providing guests with up-to-date information.
- Oversee and manage inventory and display port information collateral, coordinating with local CVBs to obtain and refresh materials.
- Prepare folders and materials for turnaround day, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Inform crew members of daily excursion offerings, promoting a sense of community and shared knowledge.
- Act as company representative at pre-cruise hotels on turnaround day, providing exceptional service and hospitality.
- Meet with Cruise Director, Guest Speakers, Guest Instructors, and Resident Entertainers to review scheduling and ensure a seamless experience.
- Promote on-board sales and brand loyalty program, encouraging guests to engage with our offerings.
- Communicate and report regularly to the Home Office on the status of the cruise, excursion counts, guest issues, and recovery, as well as evaluations of all shore excursions.
- Manage Guest Programs department administration tasks, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Bachelor's Degree in hospitality, tourism, or event management is preferred.
- Enthusiasm, confidence, and a can-do attitude are essential for success in this role.
- Strong public speaking skills are required to effectively communicate with guests and team members.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail are necessary to ensure seamless execution of shore excursions.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Geography is preferred, but not required.
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required for this role.
- 7 days per week while onboard the ship.
- 6 to 8 weeks working and living onboard the ship.
- 1 to 2 weeks shore leave vacation.
