Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiovascular Ultrasound Specialist to join our team at the Midwest Cardiovascular Institute. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and advanced ultrasound duties associated with an invasive, non-invasive, and interventional cardiovascular practice.

Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasonographic equipment to obtain diagnostic images and blood flow data following established protocol.
  • Manually control the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.
  • Decipher normal from abnormal in order to obtain appropriate tests and to show any abnormality in its entirety.
  • Inform patients of the test to be performed, review clinical data from the medical record and patient interview, and perform appropriate examination.
  • Record patient information in a daily logbook, complete worksheets on each patient, and record initial impressions to aid in diagnosis.
  • Review studies with physicians, clarify any discrepancies, and perform additional testing if necessary.
  • Dictate studies, as needed, for transcription after review by reading physicians.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and remain current in the field of vascular technology by reading appropriate technical journals and participating in educational programs and becoming registered in the field of vascular technology (RVT) and maintaining that status.
  • Help coordinate patient scheduling, maintain good rapport with patients, ensure cooperation during procedures, and maintain a safe environment for patients.
  • Create accurate and complete electronic ultrasound reports in the electronic medical record (EMR) on studies and enter appropriate electronic messages to other departments to assist with patient flow and documentation of patient wait times.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensure proper supplies are available, and prepare examination rooms for patients.
  • Maintain test equipment in clean working condition, including the cleaning of the unit, screens, control board, camera, video processor, and probes.
  • Provide clinical training for others when needed, assist in staffing other clinics and departments when needed, and perform all other related duties as directed.
Requirements
  • Completion of studies at an accredited cardiovascular ultrasound school, completion of X-Ray school with post-ultrasound training, completion of cardiopulmonary school with post-ultrasound training, or completion of Bachelor's degree with post-ultrasound training.
  • ARDMS or CCI registry in Vascular and Cardiac Ultrasound. Eligibility will be considered.
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) is required.
  • Good communication skills.
