Key Responsibilities- Instructional Leadership: Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the individual needs of students, ensuring they reach their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods, and to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing, and provide targeted instruction based on students' individual needs.
- Classroom Management: Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students, and manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Communication and Collaboration: Discuss student progress with parents, teachers, and administrators, and collaborate with teachers to assist special education students.
- Professional Development: Participate in staff development activities that improve job-related skills and professional growth, and receive support through regular walk-throughs, observations, instructional rounds, video reflections, and coaching from instructional leaders.
- Education and Certification: Bachelor's Degree required, with Teacher Certification and Special Education Certification.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong relationships with students and families, high expectations for every student, and the ability to work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and prolonged or irregular hours.
- Physical Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress, work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and prolonged or irregular hours, and perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
