The role of the Special Education Para-Educator II is to provide essential support to the educational program under the guidance of an assigned classroom teacher. This position is focused on assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of students with special needs, whether in a mainstream classroom or a specialized setting. Responsibilities include implementing instructional plans, monitoring student behavior during various activities, and collaborating with school personnel to ensure effective educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Modifies classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce educational objectives and IEP goals.
  • Provides immediate first aid and medical assistance as directed by a healthcare professional to address urgent health needs.
  • Assists students with personal care tasks to maintain hygiene and well-being.
  • Participates in job-specific training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to the position.
  • Collects and organizes data to support teachers in the classroom and aid in report preparation.
  • Communicates effectively with instructional staff and support personnel to evaluate student progress and implement IEP objectives.
  • Implements behavioral plans designed by the IEP team under the supervision of the assigned teacher to support students with behavioral challenges.
  • Maintains instructional materials and records to ensure accessibility and compliance with requirements.
  • Supervises students in various school environments to promote a safe and positive learning atmosphere.
  • Provides instruction to students in individual and group settings across a range of subjects and skills.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions to stay informed about job functions and responsibilities.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to ensure the effective operation of the educational unit.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Relevant job experience is preferred.
