Job Summary
Petroleum Geologist Specialist is a challenging role within the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, where you will utilize your expertise in geology and petroleum engineering to ensure the effective management of offshore resources. This position involves conducting thorough technical reviews and evaluations of exploration plans, development and production plans, and other related documents.

Key Responsibilities
* Conducting in-depth technical reviews and evaluations of exploration plans, development and production plans, and other related documents
* Serves as a technical expert on matters related to oil and gas explorations, development, and production operations on Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) leases
* Providing technical expertise in the review of new or revised regulations, Notice to Lessees (NTLs), and other documents

Requirements
* A bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET, or a combination of education and experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and a good understanding of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering
* Professional registration or licensure, or 4 years of progressive experience in petroleum engineering, including work that demonstrates attainment of competence in the following areas: providing engineering analysis of exploration plans, coordinating responses with industry representatives regarding the review of oil and gas or other mineral resources exploration and development plans

Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary range of $93,884 - $141,155 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, you will have opportunities for career advancement and professional growth within the Department of the Interior. You will also be eligible for telework arrangements, subject to supervisor approval. All employees are required to have federal payments made by Direct Deposit and must submit all required documents and a completed questionnaire.
