This role requires a highly skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to implement effective speech/language pathology services to patients with communication disorders.
Main Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' communication skills, oral-motor function, cognitive status, memory, and problem-solving abilities, as well as hearing and speech fluency.
- Assess home environments to identify equipment needs related to speech/language function.
- Collaborate with physicians to develop plans of care addressing speech, language, hearing, and other functional disorders.
- Administer speech therapy programs using specialized techniques and equipment.
- Provide education to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on their roles in speech therapy.
- Recommend communication devices and aids as necessary.
- Refer patients to audiologists for hearing tests when required.
- Prepare and submit clinical progress summary notes based on goal attainment.
- Instruct patients, families/caregivers, and healthcare staff on treatment regimes as needed.
- Perform additional duties to facilitate delivery of speech-language pathology services.
- Identify patient and family/caregiver needs for other services and refer accordingly.
- Maintain professional standards and clinical competency in speech-language pathology practice and theory.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned or necessary.
Key Requirements:
- Meet education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology.
- Hold a degree from an accredited school of Speech-Language Pathology.
- Be currently licensed or certified as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state of employment.
- Prior professional experience in speech-language pathology is preferred.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participate in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Hold current CPR certification (if applicable).
- Have completed TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
- Have a current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Meet federal, state, and local requirements.
- Complete new hire training as applicable to job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Have effective communication skills and proficiency in English.
- Be computer proficient.
- Be at least 18 years old.
Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 per year
