Medical Collector

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a skilled Medical Collector to join our team in Sarasota, FL. As a Medical Collector, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients and preparing them for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong patient care focus and be able to create a comfortable and trusting atmosphere for patients. They will also be responsible for verifying patient information, labeling and storing blood samples, and maintaining equipment such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect blood samples from patients for medical testing or donation.
• Verify patient information before drawing blood.
• Label and store blood samples to help doctors diagnose and treat patients.
• Assemble and maintain equipment such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials.
• Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform verification of patient demographic info/initials including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintains required records and documentation.
• Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent – Required.
• Phlebotomy Certification – Preferred
• Minimum 6 months of experience – Required
• One (+) years of phlebotomy experience – Preferred
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training – Preferred
• Customer service in a retail or service environment - Preferred
• Keyboard/data entry experience – Required
