The Clinical Nursing Supervisor is responsible for aiding in the planning, organization, development, and direction of nursing services to ensure that the highest standards of quality resident care are consistently upheld.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR CLINICAL NURSING SUPERVISOR
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current nursing license in the practicing state.
- A minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Maintains mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure residents are provided with a clean, safe, orderly, and comfortable living environment.
- Initiate resident Care Plans upon admission.
- Assist in implementing recommendations from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing Services.
- Participate in the development, review, revision, and updating of individual resident Care Plans.
- Ensure timely notification to the resident's attending physician and legal guardian/representative in cases of critical illness, injury, or significant changes in condition.
- Address complaints and grievances from families and inform the Director of Nursing Services as necessary.
- Evaluate emergencies and assist in executing emergency protocols.
- Maintain the unit area in a clean and safe condition for resident comfort and convenience, ensuring that necessary equipment and supplies are available for nursing care.
- Assist in notifying physicians of any resident incidents or unusual occurrences, ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed as per established policies.
- Support the Charge Nurse in investigating allegations of abuse or unusual occurrences in accordance with established policies.
- Administer and monitor intravenous medications as prescribed.
- Assist nursing personnel in executing nursing procedures as required.
- Support the Charge Nurse in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes of residents.
- Assist in addressing findings and deficiencies identified by the Department of Health Services, Consultants, and the Quality Assurance Team.
- Conduct assessments including restraint, pain, oral, psychotropic, bowel and bladder, and weekly I & O evaluations.
- Ensure that all nursing notes are documented in a clear and descriptive manner reflecting the care provided and the resident's response.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
- Perform other duties as necessary or as directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator.
SUPERVISION:
- Conduct resident rounds to ensure appropriate care is being delivered, identifying and addressing issues as needed.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to identify and rectify problem areas and enhance resident care.
- Assist in rounds with the attending physician as required.
- Support the Charge Nurse in revising and distributing assignments during nursing shortages.
- Oversee and guide nursing personnel.
- Participate in the evaluation and disciplinary processes for nursing staff.
CONSUMER SERVICE:
- Exhibit a professional image to consumers through attire, behavior, and communication.
- Adhere to company standards for addressing consumer concerns.
- Ensure the protection of all resident rights.
