Reactor Engineer Job Description

System One Holdings, LLC is seeking a skilled Reactor Engineer to support our client in Bellevue, WA. As a Reactor Engineer, you will work with our team to produce technical specifications, reactivity management programs, and other critical documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Core Design and other Reactor Engineers to develop technical specifications and reactor designs.
  • Assist in the development of computational tools for reactor operators and work with Operations to produce procedures for plant operation.
  • Contribute to the design and analysis of reactor systems, including fuel management optimization, reactivity coefficients, and shielding and activation.
  • Interface with Operations and Reactor Engineers to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering or equivalent experience; advanced degree and 2+ years of relevant experience with nuclear analysis preferred.
  • Knowledgeable or highly motivated to quickly learn basic nuclear reactor design concepts.
  • Experience with nuclear engineering software, such as DIF3D, MC2, PARTISN, MCNP, Serpent, SCALE, PARCS, APA, CASMO/SIMULATE, DRAGON, etc.
  • Strong computational expertise and excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within published regulatory guidelines for nuclear reactor design.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in transient analysis, thermal hydraulics, fuel performance, etc.
  • Fast reactor experience or experience with Core Operating Limits Report/Tech Specs.
  • Ability to perform professional-quality software development for nuclear applications.
  • Strong programming skills in any language.
  • Experience working in NQA-1 environments.
